Thank You, AAF CR-IC

This week I had the pleasure of speaking to the AAF of Cedar Rapids-Iowa City about the 10 Commandments of Outdoor Advertising. The crowd laughed at all the right times and were thoroughly engaged. We even had a flurry of brainstorming a billboard for an attendee’s golf course.

Thank you to all who attended, and I would love to hear what you thought of the talk. Leave a comment below or shoot me an email.

The day before, I took a tour of the Cedar Rapids out-of-home scene. Most of it looked like this:

Cedar Rapids Out-of-Home Tour

There are surprisingly few billboards in Cedar Rapids, but what we did find was pretty decent. Most billboards here are snatched up by real estate agents. Most are mediocre and relatively forgettable. Kelly Bemus wins for most original but could use some help with a more deliberate strategy and better design. She’s definitely treating her billboard like an ad and not a business card. Overall, I think Cedar Rapids is ripe for some killer outdoor.
